This is the slogan that i chose originally and i decided to use it because it allows the school a good reputation. It encourages pupils to try their hardest and achieve more.
This is another double page spread from NME magazine, they have again used one full page for an image, however, in this spread they have taken out a small section of the "text" side of the spread for another picture. This attracts the reader’s eye because it is seen as different and it takes a while for the reader to see that it is an entirely different image. The side of the spread with the image on is broken up with the bold name of the band "The Chapman Family". This block of text breaks up the image making it more suitable for a magazine. On the other side of the spread, the text is presented in three columns, the second and the third being broken up by a quote from the rest of the interview. In the corners of the page, there are little images that catch the attention of the readers and invite them to turn the page over and carry on reading. I don’t think this double page spread is as good as the other two that I have analysed due to the fact that it lacks eye-catching colours and something different to make the text look interesting. If you aren’t a big fan of the band I don’t think you would bother to read the text presented here.
This is another double page spread from indie magazine NME. Clearly the article is about Lily Allen, due to the picture of her that dominates the right-hand side of the spread. She is looking directly at the reader and standing in a pose that demands attention, showing she is a powerful female individual. The page break is clear, however the image and the quote cross over it, joining the article together seamlessly. The left-hand side of the spread is almost entirely made up of a quote from the text, this takes the roll of the title, indicating that this article is an interview of some sort. Lily Allen's name is printed in a bold red colour in the text underneath this, which contrastes against the white background and the rest of the black text, suggesting that the article is focused on her and her only. The main block of text is layed out in four columns making it look like a lighter amount of text and making it seem less daunting to read. The background is a clean plain white, making the quote and the main image stand out and allowing the readers attention to be drawn towards the spread.
This double page spread from NME magazine, immediately catches the attention of the reader. The bright blue theme is subtle but continuous throughout the article. The pagebreak is clearly central, however it is broken up by the masthead, which is placed so that the text lies on both pages of the spread. The picture is simple and relaxed yet it still stands out. It is broken up by a "need to know" box in the bottom left hand corner, this ties the picture to the article due to the blue theme. The columns are a good size and dont look too heavy as they are broken up by pictures and a defining quote. Alongside the columns of text is a section with other bands displayed that are similar to the main band and that the reader may find interesting. In the top left-hand corner the name of the section is displayed with the slogan "the best new music - first" making the page spread easily recognizable as soon as the reader turns the page.
